The jury said in its citation 419 by Will Ferguson is “something entirely new: the Global Novel. It is a novel emotionally and physically at home in the poverty of Lagos and in the day-to-day of North America.”
A young Canadian woman discovers her father has been the victim of a Nigerian scam called a 419. She sets out to Africa for redress.
A novel of suspense tackles the global scam biz. Ferguson is known for his humorous books such as "How to be a Canadian." But this novel takes a serious situation and humanizes it.
Congratulations Will Ferguson.
