Thunder Bay Food - draw for a cookbook

Food, lovely food. Jim Poling recollects the best in Thunder Bay -- the hot dogs at Hansen's Pool Room!! In his memoir, Waking Nanabijou, he writes of the infamous dive that once stood on St. Paul St. "Edgar served up the world's best hot dogs. The buns were steamed and the mustard, relish and diced onions were fresh. A Hansen hot dog melted in your mouth and there was no equal like it anywhere. " Maybe the Hansen hot dog can be accompanied by the french fries from Carries Corner which according to blog reader, Matt, are the best anywhere. And how about dessert of a butter tart purchased at Maltese's, a temptation forever, according to Deena M.

If you have a Thunder Bay (or district) food memory, preference or anecdote, send to joanbaril@gmail.com. All entries eligible for the draw for Thunder Bay's best cookbook, Flavours of Thunder Bay by Tim Matthews with photos by Murray Metcalf. The book is signed by Tim himself. The draw will take place at 8 p.m. on February 15, 2008.
