Writing Bonnie Burnard
I like to write to authors whose books I have enjoyed. So I sent off a card to Bonnie Burnard care of her publisher after I read her collection of short stories called Casino. The best story, IMHO, was Nipple Man. A man who admires women's breasts finds himself dating a woman who has lost her breasts to cancer. Casino, the story of a dance hall similar to the one in Port Arthur also called The Casino, was a masterpiece.
Thanks Bonnie.
Casino was published in 1994. In this fast paced age when books a year old fall out of print and are nowhere to be found except in second hand book stores, I was lucky to run into an end of term sale at Lakehead University Bookstore.
