What an opening paragraph!
Temptation
by Cynthia Colosimo
She put the cup of tea down and eyed the apple. Round and bright, the colour spread from top to bottom, shading at the slightly tapered lower end, a bright green spot where a leaf had sheltered the skin from the light of the sun. Should it be flawed, or perfect in its redness? She chose perfect and turned it round so the green spot was hidden from view. With one deft stroke, she placed it in Adam’s hand – round and red. She pulled her head back to catch the effect.
Cynthia Colosimo was born in Thunder Bay. She studied drawing and printmaking and now works as an illustrator. She lives on the coast of Labrador where she works on community and heritage projects.
The story was published in the magazine Stone Voices.
