A Flashback for Local History Buffs

Thunder Bay Museum
425 Donald Street E

The Thunder Bay Museum presents a launch of their book Flashback: Reflections of our Storied Past edited by Robb Neff.  This soft cover book of less than 100 pages  is a  compilation of historical articles published in local newspapers over the years by the museum. The weekly columns are now part of history themselves!

Many dozens of writers have donated their creative energy to breathe life into our history. Now editor Robb Neff has selected some of the highlights from this popular series and grouped them under various categories such as: Historical Events, Historical People, Industry and Commerce. Many good-sized historical photographs add to the interest.

I particularly enjoyed Joan Hebden's  article about the dog sled team which delivered the mail in the early days and Art Gunnell's account of the nasty reception given to small pox victims who arrived at the Lakehead by train. Neither Port Arthur or Fort William wanted the responsibility!

Everyone is welcome to attend the launch on September 29 from 2-4 pm on the second floor of the Museum , 425 Donald Street E.
