Colette Maitland, herself an accomplished writer of short fiction, (Her book Keeping the Peace is a lit gem) was the first to pick Lynn Coady's collection of short stories titled Hellgoing as the winner of the Giller Prize for fiction. Hellgoing is published by the House of Anansi Press.
Collette wrote: "this is her (Lynn Coady's) second time on the Giller short-list, so I figure she's due." A copy of the winning novel, Hellgoing, is going out to Colette.
Congratulations to Colette Maitland and many thanks to every one who participated. Stay tuned for the Christmas Contest coming up late November.
