Marianne Jones

Canadian Tire
By Marianne Jones
At the temple of function over form
navy clad worshippers in sober boots and parkas
file through the sliding jaws
of Entrance and Exit, leaving offerings,
moving in processional to the anthem of price code beeps.
Incense of rubber rises to the vaulted ceilings.
Led by the sacred texts of the weekend flier,
acolytes’ eyes are lifted upward to the top shelves
of cheap goods from China.
