Frozen Frog, a poem by Martin Hicks
Earth turns again in cyclic season
Wind-beaten gold to filthy grey,
While I dig deep in muddy reason
To there out-weather brutal day.
Frost freezes fast mid-leap to lead,
White winter sheets a stony pond,
Blue needles bind hid, secret bed,
But pulse survives arresting bond.
For under hardest dark reflection
Inside my heart ice-slowed I keep
Will's iron Dream for resurrection-
For Spring from cryogenic sleep!
