A Dark and Cold Night but...

Warm inside Brodie Library on Tuesday January 24. About twenty-five hardy lit lovers showed up to hear some great readings. First Doug Livingstone and Sharon Irvine each read a fine poem followed by Mary Frost reading a selection of her latest work. I am always stunned by the power of her poetry.  (note to Mary, another book soon please)

Cathy Grandville read a selection from her novel, a work in progress, about the Hudson Bay's chief factor, George Simpson and his country wife. This is going to be a very interesting and well written novel, and I plan to be first in line at the launch to make a purchase.

Debbie Metzler aka The Book Girl, ended with a number of strong vignettes as well as accompanying art work. A multi media presentation. Debbie wrote about her emotions during cancer treatment and its aftermath, her grandchildren, her insomnia. She ended with a story about a dead beaver in her pond, an exploding beaver no less. Okay, you had to be there, but we all left laughing. A great tale.

Many thanks to NOWW and Brodie for a fine evening.
